Lots To Do - No Time To Do It

I'm hyperventilating already about what has to get done in the next 36 hours. Some of it me, some of it The Husband:

1) Work (at work). Lots to do. If I don't get this place organized I'm going to commit hari-kari. Or however you spell it.

2) Little Bit's concert - 4th grade is playing their recorders this afternoon, so must leave #1 to attend this.

3) Mow lawn and pull weeds. After what feels like two straight weeks of rain (and I think it damn near has been), both are out of control. Thankfully we don't have a lot of grass but we do have a lot of landscape that apparently didn't have weedblock.

4) Finish boys' bathroom. Starting to do his part at 4 p.m. LAST SUNDAY has not helped The Husband be on top of things. I can't really finish painting until he's out of there. This should be interesting because...

5) Get ready for housewarming party starting at 5 p.m. Saturday. Several tasks associated with this - give the house a good thorough vacuuming, dusting, cleaning, pick up rental chairs, snacks and drinks at Costco (thank God for Costco), finish PAINTING THE BATHROOM (argh!), put the door on the laundry room, unpacking the last few boxes that are littering the house, and I'm sure other things I've forgotten.

6) Oh, yeah, figure out something for my Mom for Mother's Day.

I feel tired now. I need a nap. And it's only 8:30 a.m.

On a good note, friends Ben and Yvette are coming from Utah to the party. They've never been to Boise, so I hope they're as impressed with it as we are. Either way, it will be good to see them.

My hard drive is crashed, so I have to reinstall my photo software on another computer to be able to download photos. But I plan on doing that too!

Okay, I have a huge vacation post coming involving Fort Herriman Days, Cub Scouts, camping in Idaho etc. etc.

In the meantime, here's what I'm going to be doing next Saturday night.

Back In The Day

Back in the day, when I met The Husband, this was our song, well it still is, really. I saw Love Actually last night (starring Hugh Grant and featuring a parody of this song by Bill Nighy - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT MOVIE), which led me to thinking about Four Weddings and a Funeral (starring Hugh Grant, see a theme here, but of course?) and remembering this song.

So, here's some cheesy '60s music converted to some cheesy 90's music - and I LOVE IT. Can't wait to get to London and pretend I'm in the movies.

I Wish I Was As Cool As Tony Stark

It's been a weekend already, it has...went to the Jazz game last night (yes!!! Take that, T-Mac!)Sadly, now ready for Kobe Bryant to hand us our walking papers - I have no admiration for Kobe Bryant, period.

Today we went to see Iron Man. I haven't checked Cousin Steve's site yet for a review, but Steve, if there isn't one, you should be doing it. I'm sure you've already seen the flick.

The Husband and Little Bit wanted to go, very badly, to this movie and I was tempted to let them have guy time and go, but they wanted me to come. The Husband has in his collection of old comic books some Iron Man. I never had heard of it until recently. I was more of "The Archies" kind of comic book reader myself. So I really wasn't interested.

Therefore, it was a "game time decision" as they say whether to go or not, and the things that decided me for it were a) Robert Downey, Jr. who I love, and b) the fact that Robert Downey, Jr. was on Letterman this week and he was as usual, funny, direct, handsome and all that and his clip looked great. Besides, as far as RDJ goes, I have to admire anyone who's faced the personal demons this "young" man has and has come through as the really good person he seems to be.

Okay, enough fawning over Robert. The movie's good. I swear. And this is from a female who doesn't get the Lord of the Rings movies (I read the Hobbit but after that I just got lost), Batman Begins etc. I do like some Superhero stuff, but it's stuff like the original Batman with Michael Keaton, SpiderMan with Tobey Maguire - something unexpected. Some guy you think would in no way be able to pull this off, yet does in spades. That's Iron Man, and that is Robert Downey, Jr. (Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges aren't bad either, though Jeff is WAY too good looking to be this ugly in a movie).

The movie also says wonderful things about people doing something meaningful with their lives, correcting mistakes and that war is an incredibly crappy way to solve problems. Sometimes necessary, yes, but often not. Peace be with you and the world - go see a good action flick.

Old Movie Favorites

Another old movie I saw a couple of weeks ago - "VisionQuest". My cousin, the Bear lover and Packer hater, Steve, happens to be the cousin of Shute - the bad guy wrestler in the film (Steve, no reviews on the website for this classic? Heh). Having met the man himself when very young, I was totally impressed someone I "knew" (barely) was in a movie. And, I loved the movie, filmed in Spokane, WA, where I spent a bit of time packing around my little cousins (I barely remember Spokane but I know I liked it and I had fun packing them around!).

At any rate - hadn't seen the movie in years, and had forgotten that once upon a time I owned the soundtrack including this John Waite classic. And yes, I mean that. I love this song. I was so glad to get reminded of it - ran off to ITunes immediately and downloaded it.
